Get Started with Your Ledger Device

Welcome to the official Ledger Start page — your first step toward complete control over your digital assets. Secure, simple, and powerful. Follow the guided setup below to initialize your Ledger safely and confidently.

Begin Setup

1. Unbox & Connect

Unpack your Ledger device and connect it to your computer using the provided USB cable. Ensure your Ledger is an official product purchased directly from Ledger or an authorized reseller.

Once connected, your device will power on and display instructions on its secure screen — your first look at Ledger’s trusted protection environment.

2. Download Ledger Live

Ledger Live is your official companion app for managing crypto securely. Visit ledger.com/start and download Ledger Live for your OS. Install it just like any standard application.

When prompted, choose “Set up a new device” or “Restore existing wallet” depending on your needs. The guided interface makes it easy to follow.

3. Secure Your Recovery Phrase

During setup, your Ledger will generate a 24-word recovery phrase. Write it down carefully — it’s the only backup to restore your funds. Never take photos or share it digitally.

Ledger never stores or accesses your recovery phrase. This ensures total self-custody, where only you control your keys and assets.

4. Install Apps & Add Accounts

Use Ledger Live to install cryptocurrency apps on your device. Each coin (Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc.) requires its own secure app managed through the Ledger ecosystem.

Then, add accounts in Ledger Live to view your balances and send or receive crypto safely — always verified through your device screen.

Verify Every Transaction

Confirm addresses directly on your Ledger screen before sending crypto. This protects you from phishing or malware attacks.
